On 25 June 2007 the Ffynnon youth group from Bangor in Wales delivered a petition to the Prime Minister, asking for HIV/AIDS education for all young people around the world.
Shauna, 13, and Catherine, 14, told Global Gang why they think it's important that young people are clued up about HIV/ AIDS.
‘Doris, from Nigeria, who is HIV+ (she carries the HIV virus) came to talk to our youth group. Her message was "If you don’t make a noise you shall not be heard",' they explained. 'We suddenly realised that young people around here know barely anything about HIV. We were quite shocked when we found out that the number of people in Wales who are HIV+ is rising.'
'We planned a workshop and have been going round youth clubs educating our peers about HIV.We hope to raise awareness in young people so that they're not prejudiced against people who are HIV+.'

Shauna, Cai, Catherine and Meredyth from the Ffynnon youth group in Bangor deliver their petition to 10, Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives. They designed their own Christian Aid t-shirts for the event. 'The day itself was amazing. We had the privilege of a tour of the House of Commons with our local MP in Caernarfo, Hywel Williams. We had lunch there and also saw Tony Blair and other politicians from the public gallery!'
'We knocked (of course!) on No 10’s shiny door - it was two days before Blair left office. We hope he saw the petition and raised it with Gordon Brown as an urgent matter. We're looking forward to seeing a change in HIV education in the future.'
