Lots of girls in Afghanistan have to get married when they are very young. This happens more often if the girl’s family is poor, because it's traditional for the husband-to-be’s family to give the girl’s family some money, called a 'bride price'.
Tabarouk had to get married when she was only 13 years old. At 16, she's expecting her second baby.
In Afghanistan, if you live in the countryside, there aren’t hospitals or clinics to go to when you're about to have a baby. And without good medical care, giving birth at home can be dangerous.
Tabarouk is expecting to give birth at home. 'It took four hours riding on a donkey to get to the clinic so I don't want to go back when I'm heavily pregnant,' she explains.

Tabarouk getting her stomach massaged by her mother-in-law, who has been trained as a midwife Sana'oubar likes her job, 'because it involves lots of talking!' she says. 'I like it when women come to my house and we sit down and chat.'
