Pocket money

'I get pocket money to spend. I mostly spend my money on healthy foods and dolls to play with when I come from school, after doing my homework,' says Georgeia, 8

'When I am at home on holidays, I do a lot of housework helping my mother. She normally gives me pocket money at the end of the week, to buy anything I want. I always save my money so that I can help send myself to school,' says Kafi, 14

Kafi's careful with his pocket money!
'Sometimes I get money for doing work around the house, like raking up the yard and sweeping it. I mostly spend my money on food, ice-cream, sweeties and chocolate. It is not right for children to work and get money to spend because our mother and father are responsible for us until we are older,' says Kymani, 8
Who's the boss at home?

'My mother is the head of my household. She always tells us what to do and not to do. The rules are to always flush the toilet after using it, do not eat on the settee, and always take off my shoes before entering the house,'
says Tafari, 13

Roxann's dad rules the roost at home!
'My father always set rules for us to follow. The rules are not to come home late from school, not to play on the roads. I am to help my mother whenever she wants help. If I don’t do what he says he will always punish me and my sister - not to give us anything we like to eat, like ice-cream, or any extra money with our lunch money for school,'
says Roxann, 11
