Four storms in four weeks

Jeff is only six years old, but he’s lost his dad, brother and sister to storms. Haiti, a country in the Caribbean, was hit by four huge storms in less than four weeks this summer, killing hundreds and leaving a million people homeless.

Now Jeff has only his mum and baby sister left. His sister is very sick with diarrhoea, which is caused by dirty water.

No school

The family fled their home, which was under six feet of water. They are now living in a shelter. Because of the storms the schools are closed so Jeff won’t be able to go back to school until they re-open.

Hope

Christian Aid partners have been giving children like Jeff notebooks and pencils. This means they can still study, even though they've lost all their belongings. Money is also being given to help pay school fees.

If you would like to help children like Jeff, why not ask your parents or teacher if you can raise some money? Check out our fundraising ideas.

Preparing for disasters
Christian Aid's partners save lives all over the world by helping people prepare for when disasters hit. Our partners put in early warning systems and build bridges so people can get out of the danger quickly. Find out how fireworks are raising the alarm in Honduras.
