The story began over 60 years ago...
A terrible war called the Second World War forced millions of people in Europe to run away from their homes and become refugees. Christian Aid was started by a group of people from churches all over the UK and Ireland who wanted to help the refugees.

This family had to leave their home during the war, taking what they could carry with them A knock on every door
This group of people knocked on the door of nearly every home to ask for money to help. A huge amount was raised so that refugees could have food and medicine and start a new life for themselves.
Helping around the world
When the emergency was over, the group realised that there were many other places in the world where people who are poor could make their lives better if they had a chance. So Christian Aid started to help them too.

What now?
Today Christian Aid helps people in around 50 countries to make their lives better. We send money to organisations that work with poor people in their own communities. We call these organisations 'partners'. We're like good friends. Some partners are Christian, some are from other religions and some are not religious at all. They are all trying to make the world a better place.
What you can do
Global Gang is full of stories about children who are doing their bit to make the world a better place. Look around and be inspired!
